2016 Entertainment Programme


Friday 09 September 5.30pm – 10pm

This year’s Salt Fest starts on the Friday evening with a fantastic line up of music in the Vines Park marquee featuring .

Saturday 10 September

Listen out for the St. Augustine’s Church bells as they ring to welcome you to Salt Fest at 10am

Grand Opening

Gather in Victoria Square at 10.30am for the official opening by Cllr Frances Smith, Chairman of Wychavon District Council and Cllr Roy Murphy, Mayor of Droitwich Spa. Followed by a parade through town led by Droitwich Air Cadets Band accompanied by the Romans and other exhibitors.

Look out for the Romans as they march through town.

Town Centre 1.30pm

Town Walk

Why not join a guided walk to find out more about the town’s fascinating history. Walks last about 1½ hours and cost £2. 11.30 am and 2pm Booking essential (tel 01905 774312).

Take some time out to enjoy a mixed programme of entertainment in Salt Alley (Saltbarrow Market)

Join the ‘Salty Pirates” for a great programme of live children’s entertainment by Wren Arts

10.30 – 11.15am – Balloon Modelling (Pirate on foot), Giant Bubbles (Pirate on foot), Pirate on stilts

11.45 – 12.45pm – Have a go circus skills with the Jolly Pirates plus Pirate tricks

1.15 – 2.00pm – Balloon Modelling (Pirate on foot), Giant Bubbles (Pirate on foot), Pirate on stilts

2.30 – 3.15pm – Have a go circus skills with the Jolly Pirates plus Pirate tricks

We also have a storytelling caravan which will be set up in the shopping centre. The caravan will be open all day and have lots of things for children to explore, but there will be 2 set story telling times, 12:45 and 2pm.

This is running through Shindig, the Rural West Midlands Performing Arts group.

Duck Race

The popular duck race takes place on the River Salwarpe in Vines Park. Tickets available from the Droitwich Waterways (Pamela May) Trust stand in the Park.

Vines Park

Come and join the Salvation Army Band and Choir for a Community Service in the marquee and join them for light refreshments afterwards.

11am – 12pm

Buy a drink from the Gardener’s Arms real ale bar and enjoy an afternoon and evening of great entertainment and music in the marquee:

12.00 – Lighthouse Puppets

1pm – Droitwich Community Choir

From 3pm

Live music from Old Bob Jones and Garrington Tee and wrapping up the weekend’s entertainment we have the fabulous Beached Boys, bringing the California sunshine to the end of Salt Fest 2016.
